BluePearl Pet Hospital in Reno is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the Surgery Department. The role focuses on anesthesia monitoring, patient care, and assisting clinicians with surgical procedures.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join Surgery Department.
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and patient care preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed orders and work with clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Follow detailed orders and build trust with the clinician.
• Monitor anesthetic procedures and intubation/ extubation.
• Maintain sterility and proper sterilization processes.
• Provide nursing care to stable patients per hospital standards.
• Place peripheral IV catheter as needed.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vitals.
• Set up and manage IV fluids and pumps.
• Disengage/ connect patient to IV fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy and report abnormalities.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Reno is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Department!

Pay Scale (LVT Level I): $22.25 - $32.00/Hr

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Can follow detailed orders and builds trust with the clinician quickly.
• Skilled in intubation, extubating, and monitoring anesthetic procedures.
• Understands the importance of sterility in all procedures performed and has prior knowledge and experience with sterilization processes.
• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administers subcutaneous fluids.
• Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
