Job summary

MedVet in Washington is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician for our 4:00 PM–2:00 AM ER shifts (Wed–Thu). You'll work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with a collaborative care team, handling a wide range of emergency cases and patient needs.

You will perform rounds, triage, assist veterinarians, monitor anesthesia, run in-house labs, educate clients, and ensure safe, compassionate care for hospitalized patients. State RVT license and prior ER experience preferred.

Qualifications

• License required: State Registered Veterinary Technician.
• Prior veterinary experience, emergency experience preferred.
• Strong accuracy in drug calculations.
• Flexible with shifts and hours.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced ER environment.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications, and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.

We are looking for:

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Shift:

4:00 PM-2:00 AM | Wed-Thu

Every day is different and there’s never the same case twice!

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compensation:

This position has an initial hiring range of $24.00 to $40.00 per hour based on skillset and experience.

We support our caregivers with lucrative shift differentials:

• Hours worked between 8pm and 11:59pm = base pay + $2/hour
• Hours worked between 12am to 7:59am = base pay + $3/hour
• Hours worked on Weekends (day or night) = base pay +$1/hour + any applicable differential
