Job summary

MedVet in Campbell, CA is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced ER team. No set schedule; pick up shifts as available, with competitive hourly pay and select shift differentials.

The role supports critical patients and collaborates with DVMs and the patient care team to deliver top-quality care. You'll perform rounds, triage patients, assist with treatments and anesthesia, and educate clients on home care and medications.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience preferred.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, dosages, CRI, unit conversions).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible with work hours and able to take extra hours when needed.
• Ability to stay organized and work efficiently in a fast-paced ER.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.

We are looking for:

Emergency Veterinary Technician- Various Hours

Schedule:

No set schedule, pick up shifts when available.

Compensation:

The hiring range for this position is $28.25 - $44.00/hour based on skillset and experience. We support our evening caregivers with lucrative shift differentials:

• Hours worked between 8pm-11:59pm = base pay +$4/hour
• Hours worked between 12am-8am = base pay +$6/hour
• Hours worked on Saturday and Sunday (day or night) = base pay + $3/hour + any applicable differentials.

What you’ll do:

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
