Job summary

MedVet in Vancouver, WA seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician for our Emergency team. This fast-paced ER role requires a State Registered Veterinary Technician license and prior emergency experience.

Shift: 4:00 PM–2:00 AM, Week A Wed-Sat and Week B Thu-Sat, with night shift differentials to reward hours. You will collaborate with the DVM and care team, monitor anesthesia, perform in-house labs, educate clients, and provide nursing care to hospitalized patients.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required.
• MedVet provides license transfer assistance.
• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRI, unit conversions).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Collaborate with patient care team on treatment plans and nursing care.
• Provide client education on home care, medications, and wellness updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house lab testing and prepare samples for outside labs.

Licensed Veterinary Technician

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary

• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required

• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary

Compensation:

This position has an initial hiring range of $24.00 to $40.00 per hour based on skillset and experience.

We support our caregivers with lucrative shift differentials:

• Hours worked between 8pm and 11:59pm = base pay + $2/hour
• Hours worked between 12am to 7:59am = base pay + $3/hour
• Hours worked on Weekends (day or night) = base pay +$1/hour + any applicable differential
