Job summary

Small Door Veterinary is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our GP-focused team in New York. You will triage, assess patients, record vitals, assist doctors with diagnostics, perform treatments, draw blood, place catheters, and support in radiography and in-house labs, while upholding Fear Free and AAHA standards.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do

• Triaging
• Knowledge and ability to recognize medical emergencies and illnesses
• Assessing patients
• Recording vitals and assisting doctors with diagnostics
• Completing treatments as instructed by the doctor
• Basic husbandry and nursing care
• Monitoring changes in patients and providing compassionate care
• Taking blood
• Placing catheters
• Assisting in and facilitating radiography capture
• Preparing samples for outside reference labs
• Running in-house labs
• Preparing medications
• Administering medications
• Additional responsibilities to maintain a hospitable environment

Who you are

• 1+ years of experience as a LVT in a GP setting
• Availability to work weekends (Saturday or Sunday)
• Comfortable with computers and online tools
• Strong enough to lift 50 lbs
• A thoughtful and fearless team player
