Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician for our Neurology team. This role offers a sign-on bonus up to $7,500 based on experience and requires scheduling 4x10 hour shifts with occasional on-call expectations.

Pay ranges from $27.00 to $51.00 per hour plus competitive shift differentials. Experience with anesthesia and neuro patient care is valued; candidates with VTNE or VTS will be considered.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid Licensed Veterinary Technician credential in NY.
• Neurology experience is preferred but not required.
• Comfort with anesthesia and critical patient monitoring.
• Accurate medical math for CRI dosing and patient calculations.

Responsibilities

• Set up constant rate infusions (CRI) and monitor anesthetic procedures.
• Assist with MRI/CT preparations and patient positioning.
• Discharge neuro patients with client education on home care.
• Perform nursing care and vital signs assessment per standards.
• Provide client education and communicate findings to Clinician.
• Handle medications, refills, and follow-up calls as needed.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is currently hiring for a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Neurology team in Brooklyn, NY!

Schedule: 4x10 hour shifts + occasional on-call expectations

Pay: $27.00 - $51.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$8.00/hr. Shift Differential

As a Neurology Veterinary Technician , you will:

• Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
• Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc).
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia
• Set up for MRI and CT procedures.
• Discharge neuro patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as manual bladder expression, sling walking, range of motion, etc..Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values
• Perform call backs and refill medications
• Client education, gathering histories and communicating that to the Clinician
• Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters
• Comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics
