BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a passionate Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Day team. This role offers a sign-on bonus up to $7,000 and pay between $30.00 and $51.00 per hour plus shift differentials for nights and weekends.

You will work with anesthesia, triage emergencies, radiography, IV catheters, and CPR. We support mentoring, ongoing development, and a collaborative culture focused on exceptional patient care and client service.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician with ability to monitor anesthesia and assist in emergencies.
• Comfort with radiography, vital signs, and CPR in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to mentor and support teammates during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies and obtain vitals such as temperature, heart rate and BP.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Initiate CPR when indicated and manage medical calculations for infusions.
• Place IV catheters and maintain central lines as needed.
• Mentor and train other co-workers and address client concerns.

*This position is offering up to a $7,000 sign on bonus based on experience*

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a passionate Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Day team.

Pay: $30.00 - $51.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$8.00/hr. Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
