BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician for our daytime Emergency team. The role offers a base pay of $28.00–$51.00 per hour with shift differentials and progressive competency-based pay.

Open to Thurs-Sat or Thurs-Fri schedules, with a strong focus on anesthesia, triage, radiography, CPR, and patient monitoring. Comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in good standing.
• Experience in emergency/critical care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vital signs.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Interpret and monitor vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Calculate medical doses and administer medications accurately.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our daytime Emergency team.

Schedule: Open to Thurs-Sat (3x12) OR Thurs-Fri (2x12) schedule

Base Pay: $28.00 - $51.00 / hour + shift differentials

Pay is based on experience and progression through our competency assessment program .

In addition to base pay, we offer competitive shift differentials for eligible evening, overnight, and weekend hours (4-hour minimum):

• Mon-Fri | 6 PM-8 AM: + $4.50/hr


• Sat-Sun | 8 AM-6 PM: + $4.50/hr


• Sat-Sun | 6 PM-8 AM: + $8.00/hr

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.


• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.


• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.


• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.


• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.


• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.


• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.


• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.


• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.


• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.


• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
