Job summary

Trident Seafoods is seeking a Vessel Captain/Manager to direct pre-season and daily vessel operations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The role collaborates with the Corp.

Manager and Chief Engineer on capital projects, budgeting, and training to maintain safe, efficient production. You will oversee deck and navigation systems, document primary vessel functions, and align crew development with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must hold valid USCG Master License (5000GRT) with OICNW & RFPNW.
  • Extensive seafood industry experience preferred.
  • Four to ten years related experience and/or training.
  • Familiarity with state and federal fishery regulations.
  • Ability to manage vessel safety programs.
  • Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and oversees the pre-season and day to day operations of the vessel.
  • Coordinates capital projects with Corp. Manager and Chief Engineer including scheduling and budgeting.
  • Oversees deck and navigation systems; resolves issues with appropriate solutions.
  • Manages documentation for primary vessel functions.
  • Assesses HR needs for short- and long-term projects.
  • Advises management on engineering feasibility and cost effectiveness of projects.
  • Oversees training to ensure regulatory compliance and proper qualifications.
  • Keeps up-to-date with safety policies and applies them to operations.
