Job summary

Odyssey House in New York City is seeking a Licensed Social Worker to deliver individual and group counseling to residents in residential treatment for substance use and mental health disorders. You will coordinate access to community resources, support families, and collaborate with a clinical team to optimize care.

The role requires a Master’s in Social Work and NY licensure, with at least one year in similar settings.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work and New York State Licensure required.
• 1 year experience in a social services setting with group counseling, family therapy, and case management.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Flexible schedule and ability to work evenings or weekends if needed.
• Proficiency with computer operation (Word, Excel, EHR, Outlook).
• English/Spanish bilingualism preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual assessment and counseling to address family, medical, psychiatric, and housing concerns.
• Conduct evidence-based group counseling for clinical and community issues.
• Maintain up-to-date resident charts including assessments, treatment plans, case notes and collateral contacts.
• Provide crisis intervention services.
• Assist in development and implementation of resident discharge plans.
• Provide other therapeutic services through active participation, observation, and evaluation of engagement.
• Establish community and agency affiliations to address resident needs and strengthen service delivery.
• Act as liaison and educate family members on resident issues as appropriate.
• Possibly maintain caseload and conduct resident screening for contraband and urine toxicology testing.
• Attend required staff meetings, case conferences, and in-service trainings.
