Job summary

PrimeCare Medical, Inc. is recruiting a licensed LMSW/LCSW-C or LGPC/LCPC to join the medical department at the Charles County Detention Center in La Plata, MD. The role involves on-site, 40-hour weeks with a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

The clinician will perform clinical assessments, risk assessments, and serve as the mental health liaison, ensuring NCCHC-aligned care and psychiatry referrals when needed. Strong credentials and MD licensure are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Master’s degree or higher in a social or mental health field.
• Must be licensed in Maryland as LGPC, LCPC, LMSW, or LCSW-C.
• Minimum two years of experience; substance abuse/MAT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments based on referrals and self-referrals, including mental status exams and case conceptualization with diagnosis and treatment plan.
• Perform risk assessments using structured interviews and tools; manage at‑risk inmates per policy.
• Serve as the PCM mental health liaison with outside services and within the facility.
• Facilitate admission/placement of inmates to forensic hospitals when needed.
• Monitor all provided mental health services for standards of care.
• Participate in the Quality Assurance Committee and contribute to program oversight.
• Develop and conduct in‑service education programs per annual calendar.
• Collect data and prepare monthly performance reports.

PrimeCare Medical, Inc. (i.e., PCM) is a privately owned, physician founded, nationally accredited correctional healthcare practice. We are actively recruiting for a Licensed Social Worker (LMSW/LCSW-C) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LGPC or LCPC) to work in the medical department at the Charles County Detention Center in La Plata, MD.

This is a 40-hour position of on-site care per week (i.e., Monday’s - Friday's), during normal business hours. We are offering a $5,000 sign on bonus for this role!

Job Responsibilities:

In this role the clinician is responsible for the clinical monitoring, coordinating and implementing of the mental health program in accordance with NCCHC standards and will serve as the mental health liaison between the medical unit and facility staff. Primary job responsibilities include:

• Conduct clinical assessments based on referrals and self-referrals. Assessments include documentation of findings, including at a minimum a mental status examination and case conceptualization, diagnosis, and treatment plan. Makes referrals to psychiatry when appropriate.
• Risk assessments are to be conducted utilizing structured interviews and risk assessment tools. Inmates at risk for suicide and/or engaging in self-harm are managed utilizing existing protocols according to current policy and procedures.
• Serve as the PrimeCare Medical (PCM) mental health liaison for mental health services, outside the facility.
• Facilitates admission and placement of inmates/patients to forensic hospitals when necessary.
• Monitors all mental health services provided.
• Monitors clinical services to ensure that standards of care are in accordance with NCCHC and accepted psychiatric/ psychological standards.
• Is a member of the Quality Assurance Committee.
• Develops and conducts in-service education programs according to annual in-service calendar.
• Collects data and prepares monthly reports, which reflect performance

• Salaries are negotiable and commensurate based on experience. Annual Salary range is $65,000.00 - $75,000.00

You are also eligible to accrue sick and safe leave benefits under Maryland’s Healthy Working Families Act (i.e., MDSSL). MDSSL accrues at a rate of one (1) hour for every thirty (30) hours of straight time worked, for a maximum annual accrual of sixty-four (64) hours.

Requirements

• Must be licensed as a LGPC, LCPC, LMSW, or LCSW-C in the state of Maryland.
• Must hold a master’s degree or greater in Social Work, Psychology, or related Human Service field with a concentration in clinical course work, training and/or experience.
• Minimum of two years of experience & experience with substance abuse/MAT (i.e., medicated assisted treatment) preferred.
