Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks an experienced Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to join the Electrical System Operations team.   • Maintain relationships between contractors and in-house staff and represent UT Southwestern on specific projects.

JOB SUMMARY

UT Southwestern is actively seeking an experienced Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), to join our Electrical System Operations team. We are looking for someone with five (5) plus years high voltage work experience, preferably in a hospital or university system, that has managed, maintained, and designed critical electrical infrastructure to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient power. This role requires experience with electrical system modeling (using SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, or equivalent), experience operating and maintaining electrical substations and other high and medium voltage electrical infrastructure, experience with protection relays metering and SCADA.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and active Professional Engineer license is required.

As a Licensed Professional Engineer in Electrical Systems Operations you will work under moderate supervision to maintain electrical infrastructure and electrical system documentation and modeling, and to upgrade and expand campus distribution system.

Work Location

Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed; 100% onsite, remote work not available.

Shift Requirement

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience
    5 years related experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications
    (PE) PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER Registered as Professional Engineer, preferably in Texas. Must recertify PE licenses in the state of Texas at time of renewal.
JOB DUTIES
  • Provides professional engineering consultation services relative to users' needs such as programming, researching, planning and designing.
  • Advises administrators and department chairmen during development of project programs, schematics, preliminary designs, construction drawings and specifications.
  • Prepares plans and specifications for remodeling and adapting of existing campus buildings, including electrical, plumbing and mechanical modifications.
  • Inspects construction sites at intervals to ensure progress and quality of work being performed and to determine if work is proceeding according to contract documents.
  • Maintains effective working relationships between contractors and in-house staff. As necessary, serves as UT Southwestern Medical Center representative for specific projects.
  • Responsible for design, execution, and effectiveness of system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable, and applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures are complied with.
  • May provide working supervision, training, and guidance to employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
