Responsibilities

• Install wiring and electrical apparatus using blueprints and diagrams; run conduit and make connections.
• Assemble and connect switchboards and distribution panels to units.
• Assist in estimating time and material requirements for jobs.
• Troubleshoot and maintain campus lighting circuits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

UT Southwestern is seeking a skilled and dependable Licensed Journeyman Electrician to join our Electrical Shop team. This position is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems within hospital and academic research/clinical environments. Provides journeyman level skills in performance of electrical work.

We are looking for someone with strong knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, tools, materials, and trade practices, along with excellent problem-solving and customer service skills. Healthcare or hospital electrical experience is highly preferred.

Candidates must hold a valid, active Journeyman Electrician License issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) and be able to work independently and collaboratively to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Work Location

Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed.

Shift Requirement

Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM; work schedule particulars to be discussed during interview.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

• Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent or Vocational school
• Experience 4 years skilled or journeyman level experience as an Electrician
• Licenses and Certifications (ELEC) ELECTRICAL JOURNEYMAN - Must have current licensure as a Journeyman Electrician issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Upon Hire

JOB DUTIES

• Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances, using hand tools and testing instruments, to supply electrical power for lighting and operation of equipment and apparatus.
• Inspects and tests electrical circuits and equipment; isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other equipment, replacing defective wiring, switches, sockets, plugs, and insulators.
• Installs new wiring and electrical apparatus, using blueprints and diagrams to determine correct location and layout; runs wire through conduit, and makes connections to complete circuits.
• Assembles, installs, and connects components of switchboards and distribution panels, and connects to units controlled.
• Assists in estimating time and materials required for job.
• Troubleshoots and maintains all lighting circuits on campus.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
