Job summary

Mercy in Fort Smith, AR is seeking an Licensed Practical Nurse for the Surgical 4500 unit. You will provide patient care using the nursing process under supervision and coordinate with other departments to support recovery and safe discharge.

You must be a graduate of an accredited practical nursing program, hold a current LPN license in the state, and obtain BLS within 30 days of hire. Depending on the unit, ACLS/PALS/other certifications may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program (or equivalent experience with licensure).
• Current LPN license in the state of practice; must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements.
• BLS within 30 days of hire; additional certifications may be required based on unit (ACLS, PALS, PEARS, S.T.A.B.L.E., IV Certification within 1 year).

Surgical 4500

• Bed Numbers: 26

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 6:1

• Patient Population: Adult orthopedic and surgical patients with a variety of post-operative needs, including joint replacements, fracture care, and abdominal surgeries. Nurses focus on recovery, pain management, wound care, mobility, patient education, and discharge planning. This unique unit provides experience across both orthopedic and surgical specialties, supporting patients on their journey back to independence.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program (or equivalent experience with licensure).

• Licensure: Current LPN license in the state of practice; must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements.

• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - required within 30 days of hire.
