Job summary

Interim Healthcare of NEPA seeks a School-Based Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support a student in the Hazelton, PA area. The role is Monday through Friday with district-aligned hours and responsibilities including administering medications and health procedures, and coordinating health plans.

The LPN must hold a PA nursing license, have pediatric and long-term care experience, CPR certification, a valid driver's license, and be willing to undergo pre-employment screenings.

Qualifications

• Current Nursing License in the State of PA.
• Minimum One (1) Year Pediatric Experience.
• Minimum One (1) Year long term care or similar experience.
• CPR certification required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Willing to Undergo Pre-employment Screenings (drug testing, background checks, etc).

Responsibilities

• Provide Direct Medical Care: Administer Medications and health procedures for students.
• Develop and Implement Health Plans: IHCPs and IEPS with educators and families.
• Monitor Student Health Needs: Track health and emotional well-being, including disabilities.
• Educate on Health and Hygiene: Teach basic hygiene and self-care.
• Support Special Education Teams: Participate in IEP meetings with health input.
• Promote a Safe and Inclusive Environment: Train staff on health protocols and advocate for student health needs.

Supporting a student in the Hazelton, PA Area

Specialty: General Personal Care, Medications, and Epilepsy

Salary up to $33 per hour Monday through Friday, follow district schedule average 6.5 to 8 hour day

Essential Functions for the School Based Licensed Practical Nurse

• Provide Direct Medical Care: Administer Medications, Perform Health Procedures, and Respond to Medical Emergencies for Students with Chronic or Acute Health Needs.
• Develop and Implement Health Plans: Create and Maintain Individualized Health Care Plans (IHPS) and Emergency Action Plans (IEPs) in Collaboration with Educators and Families.
• Monitor Student Health Needs: Track and Assess Students' Physical and Emotional Health, Especially Those with Disabilities or Special Medical Conditions.
• Educate on Health and Hygiene: Teach Students Basic Hygiene, Self-care, and Life Skills Related to Health, Tailored to Developmental and Cognitive Levels.
• Support Special Education Teams: Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) Meetings and Provide Health-related Input for Students' Educational Planning.
• Promote a Safe and Inclusive Environment: Ensure the Classroom Is Safe and Accessible, Train Staff on Health Protocols, and Advocate for Students’ Health-related Needs.

Minimum Requirements for the School Based Licensed Practical Nurse LPN

• Current Nursing License in the State of Pa
• Minimum One (1) Year Pediatric Experience
• Minumum One (1) Year long term care or similar experience
• CPR certification
• Valid Driver's License
• Willing to Undergo Pre-employment Screenings (which includes drug testing, various background checks, etc) and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
