Interim Healthcare of NEPA is seeking a School Based Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support a student in Hazleton, PA. The role involves direct nursing care, coordination with educators, and implementing health plans in the school setting.

Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring health, and participating in IEP/IEP meetings. A PA LPN license, pediatric experience, CPR, and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Current Pa nursing license required.
• Minimum 1 year pediatric experience.
• Minimum 1 year long-term care or similar experience.
• CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willing to undergo pre-employment screenings and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Provide direct medical care: administer medications, perform health procedures, respond to emergencies for students with health needs.
• Develop and implement health plans: IHPS and IEPs with educators and families.
• Monitor student health: track physical and emotional health, including disabilities or special medical conditions.
• Educate on health and hygiene: teach basic hygiene and self-care tailored to development.
• Support special education teams: participate in IEP meetings and provide health input.
• Promote a safe, inclusive environment: train staff on health protocols and advocate for student health needs.

• Specialty: General Personal Care, Medications, and Epilepsy
• Salary up to $33 per hour
• Monday through Friday, follow district schedule
  • average 6.5 to 8 hour days

Essential Functions for the School Based Licensed Practical Nurse:

• Provide Direct Medical Care: Administer Medications, Perform Health Procedures, and Respond to Medical Emergencies for Students with Chronic or Acute Health Needs.
• Develop and Implement Health Plans: Create and Maintain Individualized Health Care Plans (IHPS) and Emergency Action Plans (IEPs) in Collaboration with Educators and Families.
• Monitor Student Health Needs: Track and Assess Students' Physical and Emotional Health, Especially Those with Disabilities or Special Medical Conditions.
• Educate on Health and Hygiene: Teach Students Basic Hygiene, Self-care, and Life Skills Related to Health, Tailored to Developmental and Cognitive Levels.
• Support Special Education Teams: Participate in IEP(Individualized Education Program) Meetings and Provide Health-related Input for Students' Educational Planning.
• Promote a Safe and Inclusive Environment: Ensure the Classroom Is Safe and Accessible, Train Staff on Health Protocols, and Advocate for Students’ Health-related Needs.

Minimum Requirements for the School Based Licensed Practical Nurse LPN:

• Current Nursing License in the State of Pa
• Minimum One (1) Year Pediatric Experience
• Minumum One (1) Year long term care or similar experience
• CPR certificationValid Driver's License
• Willing to Undergo Pre-employment Screenings (which includes drug testing, various background checks, etc) and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
