Job summary

Interim Healthcare of NEPA is seeking a 1:1 School Based Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support a student in the Hazelton, PA area. The role involves administering medications, coordinating health plans, and collaborating with educators to meet the student’s health needs.

Responsibilities include monitoring health, teaching basic health hygiene, and participating in IEP meetings. Candidates must hold PA LPN licensure, have pediatric experience, CPR, a valid driver’s license, and be willing to

Qualifications

• Active LPN license in PA.
• Minimum 1 year pediatric experience.
• Minimum 1 year long-term care or similar experience.
• CPR certification.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Willing to undergo pre-employment screenings including drug tests and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct medical care: administer medications, health procedures, and respond to emergencies for students with chronic or acute health needs.
• Develop and implement IHCPs and emergency action plans in collaboration with educators and families.
• Monitor students' physical and emotional health, especially those with disabilities or special medical conditions.
• Educate students on health, hygiene, and self-care tailored to development and cognitive levels.
• Support IEP meetings with health-related input for educational planning.
• Promote safe and inclusive classroom Health protocols and advocate for students' health needs.

• Specialty: General Personal Care, Medications, and Epilepsy
• Salary up to $33 per hour
• Monday through Friday, follow district schedule
  • average 6.5 to 8 hour days

Essential Functions for the School Based Licensed Practical Nurse:

• Provide Direct Medical Care: Administer Medications, Perform Health Procedures, and Respond to Medical Emergencies for Students with Chronic or Acute Health Needs.
• Develop and Implement Health Plans: Create and Maintain Individualized Health Care Plans (IHPS) and Emergency Action Plans (IEPs) in Collaboration with Educators and Families.
• Monitor Student Health Needs: Track and Assess Students' Physical and Emotional Health, Especially Those with Disabilities or Special Medical Conditions.
• Educate on Health and Hygiene: Teach Students Basic Hygiene, Self-care, and Life Skills Related to Health, Tailored to Developmental and Cognitive Levels.
• Support Special Education Teams: Participate in IEP(Individualized Education Program) Meetings and Provide Health-related Input for Students' Educational Planning.
• Promote a Safe and Inclusive Environment: Ensure the Classroom Is Safe and Accessible, Train Staff on Health Protocols, and Advocate for Students’ Health-related Needs.

Minimum Requirements for the School Based Licensed Practical Nurse LPN:

• Current Nursing License in the State of Pa
• Minimum One (1) Year Pediatric Experience
• Minumum One (1) Year long term care or similar experience
• CPR certificationValid Driver's License
