Job summary

Maine Veterans Homes is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses to join our nursing teams across multiple programs in Scarborough, ME. We offer a range of shifts and weekend differentials to fit your experience and availability.

You will deliver direct nursing care, support care plans, supervise CNAs, document care, and coordinate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. A Maine LPN license and strong English communication are required.

Qualifications

• Active and in-good-standing Maine LPN license.
• Ability to work harmoniously with residents, families and teammates.
• Ability to exercise clinical judgment and maintain confidentiality.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care, including medications and treatments.
• Develop, implement, and update care plans with the team.
• Supervise CNAs and ensure quality daily care.
• Observe, document, and report changes in residents’ condition.
• Promote resident independence while ensuring safety.
• Maintain accurate documentation per policies and regulations.
• Ensure infection control, safety, and confidentiality protocols.
• Respond to emergencies with appropriate interventions.

Shift & Weekend Differentials:

• 2nd Shift: +$4.00/hour
• 3rd Shift: +$5.00/hour
• Weekend: +$2.50/hour in addition to applicable shift differential

Position Summary for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)

The LPN is a valued member of the nursing team responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to residents in accordance with each resident’s individualized care plan. This role supports residents in a designated care setting while promoting dignity, comfort, and safety. LPNs also provide clinical oversight, coordination of care, and guidance to nursing assistants as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)

• Provide direct nursing care, including medication administration, treatments, and clinical interventions
• Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Supervise and support CNAs in delivering daily care and ensuring quality standards are met
• Observe, document, and report changes in residents’ condition to appropriate team members
• Promote residents’ independence, preferences, and dignity while maintaining safety
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, team members, residents, and families
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and confidentiality protocols
• Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate nursing interventions

Requirements for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)

• Active and in-good-standing LPN license in the State of Maine
• Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers, residents, families, and supervisors
• Ability to exercise clinical judgment, discretion, and maintain confidentialityAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Basic computer skills
