Job summary

Sovah Health - Martinsville is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Med/Surg with telemetry experience. This in-person role requires 12-hour shifts and a minimum of 36 hours per week, including every other weekend.

You will support RNs with assessments, plan of care, wound care, specimen collection and medication administration while documenting care. Applicants must hold a VA or compact LPN license and a current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• LPN license VA or compact state is required.
• BLS certification preferred or required.
• Experience in acute care nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient assessment data collection for RN review.
• Implement plan of care including wound care and specimen collection.
• Administer medications as directed and document care.
• Support RN with care planning and ensure patient comfort.
• Assist patients with daily living activities and mobility.
• Monitor and communicate patient status with the care team.

This Acute Care position includes a mix of Med/Surg and Telemetry patients.

• Typical staffing ratio: 1:6
• Meditech experience preferred
• Minimum 36 hours/week, including every other weekend

How You'll Contribute

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role:

• Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and family.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.

What We're Looking For

The right person who will as supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Applicants should have a current VA or compact state LPN license. Must be a graduate of a practical school of nursing.

Additional Requirements Include

• AHA BLS certification required.
• Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.

Hourly range: $22.20 - $29.97 per hour
