Job summary

Sovah Health - Martinsville is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Med/Surg and Telemetry to join our acute-care team. The role is in-person with 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours/week and every other weekend.

You will assist with data collection, wound care, specimen collection, and patient care under the supervision of an RN. Ideal candidates hold a VA or compact LPN license, BLS certification, and prior acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Current VA or compact state LPN license.
• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
• BLS certification required.
• Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
• Must be able to work 12-hour shifts and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient assessment by collecting data for RN review.
• Perform plan of care tasks including wound care and specimen collection; may administer medications.
• Document patient care provided in chart.
• Assist RN in development of the plan of care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, nutrition, mobility).
• Monitor and communicate patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, and family.

This Acute Care position includes a mix of Med/Surg and Telemetry patients.

• Typical staffing ratio: 1:6
• Meditech experience preferred
• Minimum 36 hours/week, including every other weekend

How you'll contribute

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role:

• Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and family.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.

What we're looking for

The right person who will as supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Applicants should have a current VA or compact state LPN license.Must be a g raduate of a practical school of nursing.

Additional requirements include:

• AHA BLS certification required.
• Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.

Hourlyrange: $22.20 - $29.97per hour
