Job summary

Perimeter Healthcare is seeking a licensed Practical Nurse to perform selected nursing care under RN direction for patients admitted to the facility. Based in West Memphis, AR, this on-site role supports psychiatric inpatient services.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and a PN diploma, at least one year in a mental health setting, an active AR PN license, and BLS/Handle with Care training within the first week.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; must have Practical Nursing diploma.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a mental health setting.
  • Active and unrestricted Practical Nurse license in the designated state.
  • BLS and Handle with Care training within 1 week of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides skilled nursing care to patients as directed by the registered nurse and physician’s plan of care in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Promotes and maintains patient health through teaching and appropriate rehabilitative measures under the guidance of the registered nurse.
  • Dispenses medication under the direction of the registered nurse and according to physician orders.
  • Assists patients in learning appropriate self-care techniques.
  • Helps to achieve and maintain continuity of patient care by assisting in planning and exchanging information with other health professionals.
  • Keeps abreast of changes and trends affecting nursing care and licensed nurse functions.
  • Attends patient care conferences, meets with performance improvement reviewer weekly and communicates regularly with the registered nurse.
  • Communicates current health status and needs of patients to appropriate health professionals.
  • Organize and coordinate special programs
  • Stays abreast of Federal, State, and local laws and regulations complying with infection control and employee health standards
  • Active participant in nursing performance improvement program
  • Advises Director of Nursing/Administrator of any risk management activities in order to reduce or eliminate patient/staff/visitor injuries, illnesses, death, and/or financial loss.

Job description

Position Summary

To perform selected nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse and general supervision of the Director of Nursing to patients admitted to the facility.

Qualifications

Education: Must have graduated with High School Degree and have successfully graduated from a technical or vocational training diploma in Practical Nursing.

Experience: Minimum of one-year experience in a mental health related setting. Psychiatric inpatient facility experience is preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain an active and unrestricted practical nurse license within the designated state.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of BLS and Handle with Care training within 1 week of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures.
