LPN Job Summary

LPNs work under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON) and document all resident interactions to develop thorough care records. They help prepare residents for procedures and assist with routine recovery care after initial treatment. LPNs typically work with several residents simultaneously, administering care according to a schedule, and following medical routines and procedures.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

• Monitor residents' vitals and record them accurately
• Maintain the cleanliness and comfort of residents, including bathing, feeding, and dressing
• Assist nursing and medical staff with basic medical tasks, such as administering medication
• Update resident records confidentially
• Evaluate residents' wellbeing and report needs to medical staff
• Explain treatments and procedures to residents and families
• Change dressings and bandages, ensuring proper healing
• Move residents from wheelchairs, beds, and gurneys

Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Currently licensed as an LPN in Maine
