Job summary

New York State Department of Health's Veterans Home at Montrose seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide skilled nursing care under supervision. You will administer medications, monitor vital signs, and assist with daily living activities within a long-term care setting.

The incumbent will participate in treatment planning, document patient progress, and educate individuals and families about health goals.

Qualifications

• A license and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; or a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State.
• An application on file for a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State.
• Eligible transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Licensed Practical Nurse (State employee).

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, performs nursing care tasks per treatment plans and scope of practice.
• Administers medications and documents responses; monitors vital signs.
• Assists with activities of daily living and health education for patients and families.
• Maintains charts and records of conditions and treatments; observes changes and reports to a nurse or supervisor.
• May supervise unlicensed direct care staff and ensure a safe, therapeutic environment.
