New York State Department of Health seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse or other licensed provider. The incumbent administers medications, records vital signs, and participates in plans to address patient goals within established treatment protocols.

The role involves identifying responses to medications, documenting symptoms, preparing for exams, and assisting with treatments.

Competenze

• A license and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State.
• Or a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State.
• Or an application on file for a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State.

Mansioni

• Administers medications and nursing procedures as prescribed.
• Obtains and records temperatures, BP, pulse, and other vital signs.
• Observes, monitors, and records symptoms and health status for diagnosis and treatment.
• Identifies responses to medications or changes in health status and reports to RN or supervisor.
• Prepares patients for examinations and treatments; assists with procedures.
• Maintains charts and records of conditions and treatments; documents care provided.
• Attends to activities of daily living and hygiene needs; supports patient comfort.
• Educates patients and families about health, medications, goals, and procedures.
• Supervises unlicensed direct care staff when needed; ensures safety and compliance.
• May perform housekeeping tasks and assist with supply management.
