Summary
The Robley Rex VA Healthcare System in Louisville, Kentucky, is currently recruiting for a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Emergency Department.

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship
- Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Language: Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d)
- Education: Must be a graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State accrediting agency and/or the National League for Nursing at the time the program was completed by the applicant
- Exceptions include military health care education and training accepted by the licensing body, VHA employees converted under specific laws, and individuals granted a license by a jurisdiction that does not require graduation from an approved school
- License: Must have a full, current, active, and unrestricted license as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the U.S., or District of Columbia
Grade Determinations:
- GS-3: None beyond basic requirements
- GS-4: Six months of qualifying experience or graduation from an approved school with relevant experience
- GS-5: One year of experience at GS-4 level or equivalent, with demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide a full range of practical nursing care
- GS-6: One additional year of experience at GS-5 level, proficient in providing care to diverse patient populations, and able to recognize urgent or emergent situations
Preferred Experience: Previous experience in acute care, ED, inpatient care, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and EKG.

Duties
- Perform and document assigned nursing care, including vital signs, medication administration, and delegated procedures such as venipuncture, EKG, wound care, and more within the LPN scope of practice.
- Assist with minor procedures, ensure patient comfort and privacy, and monitor during procedures.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and ensure rooms are stocked and ready for patient care.
Work Schedule
Six 12-hour shifts and one 8-hour shift per pay period. Telework is not available. This is not a virtual position.
