Summary of Job Duties: Schedule: Temporary Part-Time

Clinical Care Assistants (CCA's) are hired for a specific unit and are expected to foster professionalism and fulfill work commitments on the unit of assignment. CCA's work under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse(s). The CCA works within the Nursing Service Line standards and adheres to UAMS Health policies, procedures, standards, and guest care guidelines.

Work hours require 8 hours a week; 16 hours every other weekend on Saturday and/or Sunday; or 32 hours a month as negotiated with the Clinical Services Manager (CSM); a maximum of 1000 hours (increased to 1400 during a pandemic) in a 12-month floating period; the applicant will be offered two (2) areas only (if two areas are available); online references must be completed before application will be processed. References will be requested in a separate e-mail from Skill Survey.

Salary: $15.00 per hour

Shift Differential: 20% E/N/P

Must Work One (1) Major Holiday: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas-Eve or New Year’s

Qualifications:

  • nursing student to bring a copy of the nursing school transcript to validate completion of one semester and one clinical rotation and sign the ‘CCA Statement of Eligibility’ during Week 1 of orientation.
  • CCAs hired in June and December are required to attend one week of orientation starting on a designated Monday for ‘New Employee Orientation’ and ‘CCA Orientation’ and continuing daily classes, 8A-4:30P thru Friday. CCA transfer applicants must reapply and contact NurseRecruitment@uams.edu prior to transfer. CCAs must also complete all HR ‘New Hire’ requirements before start date.
  • CCAs hired off cycle must complete ‘New Employee Orientation' modules and ID Badge before first working day on the unit. The CSM will approve up to 8 hours of education time to complete online modules. Orientation requirements, including classes and shifts, must be completed within six weeks. Skills cannot be performed until classes/check-offs are complete or the CSM will remove the CCA from schedule/position.
  • To foster professionalism, CCAs are hired for a specific unit and are required to work every other weekend to meet minimum hours unless otherwise authorized by the CSM.
  • CSMs are responsible for scheduling. Schedule changes must be requested in writing prior to posting in the Kronos system.
