Job summary

MercyOne in New Hampton is seeking a part-time Physical Therapy Aide to support therapists in preparing patients and delivering treatment per the plan of care. The role includes maintaining clean, functional PT equipment and handling communications between Rehab and patients.

The ideal candidate holds a two-year Associate Degree in Physical Therapy, Iowa licensure, and at least one year of outpatient experience; strong patient communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Two-year college program leading to an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy.
• Licensed by the State of Iowa in compliance with PTA rules and regulations.
• One year outpatient experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate with patients and instruct them in exercise programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist physical therapists in tests, evaluations, treatments, and job-simulation training.
• Ensure patient personal care and environment during treatment.
• Provide patient treatment as outlined by the plan of care.
• Record progress and data in the patient chart.
• Instruct patients in exercises, ambulation, daily living activities, safe body mechanics, home programs, and return-to-work precautions.

Shift: 8 hour Day Shift
PRN: Hours Vary based on needs of the department
This individual assists the physical therapists in the preparation of patients for treatment, provides certain physical therapy procedures to the patient, maintains physical therapy equipment in a clean and aesthetic manner and is responsible for written/verbal communications between the Rehab department and our customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assists physical therapists in performing tests, evaluations, treatment procedures, and jobsimulation training.


• Exercises responsibility for patient’s personal care and environment throughout treatment.


• Provides patient treatment as outlined by physical therapist’s plan of care.


• Records and reports patient’s progress towards established goals, and data related to care in the patient’s medical record/chart.


• Instructs patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living, safe body mechanics, home exercise programs, and return to work precautions according to plan of care.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of a two-year college program (approved by American Physical TherapyAssociation) leading to Associate Degree in Physical Therapy


• Licensed by State of Iowa in compliance with the Physical Therapy Association Rules and Regulations


• Experience: One year experience in outpatient setting preferred.


• Ability to communicate with patients and instruct them in exercise programs.
