Job summary

Trinity Health in Mason City, IA seeks a licensed Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat patients of all ages, develop treatment plans, and supervise support staff to achieve functional goals.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, document progress, teach exercises and home programs, and ensure safe patient handling. Iowa licensure and BLS required; training in mandatory abuse reporting is expected within 6 months.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Physical Therapy Program.
  • Licensed in the State of Iowa.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • BLS Provider certification prior to employment or within 30 days and maintained.
  • Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates plans, directs, supervises and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative programs for patients with physical limitations.
  • Consults and communicates with patient, family, and other multi-disciplinary team members and service providers.
  • Records and reports patient’s progress towards established goals, and data related to care in the patient’s medical record/chart.
  • Instructs patients in exercises, ambulation, activities of daily living, safe body mechanics, home exercise programs, and return to work precautions.
  • Delegates and supervises activities of physical therapy assistants and technicians, to assure efficient use of department resources.
  • Provides competent patient care by obtaining and interpreting data, making decisions based on age-appropriate growth and development, and adapting procedures and treatments.

What you will Do:
  • Evaluates plans, directs, supervises and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative programs for patients with physical limitations.

  • Consults and communicates with patient, family, and other multi-disciplinary team members and service providers.

  • Records and reports patient’s progress towards established goals, and data related to care in the patient’s medical record/chart. Instructs patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living, safe body mechanics, home exercise programs, and return to work precautions.

  • Delegates and supervises activities of physical therapy assistants and technicians, to assure efficient use of department resources.

  • Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age‑specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate of Physical Therapy Program.

  • Must possess/maintain license in the State of Iowa.

  • Ability to have good relationships with people while dealing with a variety of physical disabilities. Must be able to read, write and/or speak English.

  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.

  • Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines.
