Job summary

Trinity Health in New Hampton, IA is seeking a part-time Physical Therapy Assistant to support our rehabilitation team. The role requires a two-year Associate Degree in Physical Therapy and Iowa licensure, with a day shift schedule and variable PRN hours based on department needs.

You will assist therapists with testing, treatment, patient education, and documentation, ensuring safe environments and accurate progress notes. Experience in outpatient settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two-year college program leading to an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy.
• L icensed by the State of Iowa as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• One year outpatient experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist physical therapists in tests, evaluations, treatments, and simulations.
• Support patient care and maintain a safe, clean treatment environment.
• Provide patient treatment as outlined by the plan of care.
• Record patient progress and document in the medical chart.
• Instruct patients in exercises, ambulation, ADLs, home programs and safety.

This individual assists the physical therapists in the preparation of patients for treatment, provides certain physical therapy procedures to the patient, maintains physical therapy equipment in a clean and aesthetic manner and is responsible for written/verbal communications between the Rehab department and our customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assists physical therapists in performing tests, evaluations, treatment procedures, and jobsimulation training.
• Exercises responsibility for patient’s personal care and environment throughout treatment.
• Provides patient treatment as outlined by physical therapist’s plan of care.
• Records and reports patient’s progress towards established goals, and data related to care in the patient’s medical record/chart.
• Instructs patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living, safe body mechanics, home exercise programs, and return to work precautions according to plan of care.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of a two-year college program (approved by American Physical TherapyAssociation) leading to Associate Degree in Physical Therapy
• Licensed by State of Iowa in compliance with the Physical Therapy Association Rules and Regulations
• Experience: One year experience in outpatient setting preferred.
• Ability to communicate with patients and instruct them in exercise programs.
