Job summary

Qualifications

• Licensed orthotist with board certification.
• Experience with electronic medical records and procedures.
• Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Well organized with planning skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and patient management software.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and OSHA requirements.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Examine, interview, and measure patients to determine appliance needs.
• Fit, test, and adjust devices for proper fit and comfort.
• Instruct patients in use and care of orthoses.
• Record patient medical histories.
• Select materials and components based on device design.
• Fabricate medical devices.
• Design orthotic devices from physicians' prescriptions.
• Confer with physicians to formulate specifications.
• Construct or supervise construction of appliances.
• Train and supervise technicians and support staff.
• Attend conferences to update skills and knowledge.
• Repair and modify orthotic appliances as needed.
• Explain orthotic devices to healthcare workers.
• Research new methods to construct and use orthotic devices.
• Maintain relationships with patients and hospital staff at Fondren Orthopedic.
