VisionWorks in Brooktondale, NY is seeking an Optical Assistant for frame and lens fitting and dispensing. You will interpret prescriptions, provide product information, and assist customers with insurance benefits while following HIPAA and privacy policies.

Responsibilities include using SERVE sales process, maintaining a clean dispensing area, and ensuring accurate pricing and compliance with state licenses. This role requires a High School Diploma and an active ophthalmic dispensing license.

Qualifications

• Must be able to interpret prescriptions and explain optical products and services.
• Strong knowledge of frames, lenses, and insurance benefits.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.

Responsabilités

• Assist each customer in frame and lens selection meeting social distance requirements.
• Ensure compliance with social distancing, cleaning protocols and hygiene practices.
• Provide customers with accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections and other services.
• Provide customers covered by Third Party insurance with accurate information regarding benefits to ensure proper selection of frames and lenses.
• Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and establish proper lens recommendations.
• Analyze and interpret patients' prescriptions and coordinate with Lab and Optometrist to ensure prescription accuracy.
• Sell, fit and dispense frames and accessories with accurate measurements and adjustments.
• Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area.
• Responsible for the accuracy of customer pricing for the retail customer.
• Maintain license requirements per State Guidelines.
• Provide feedback and guidance to Apprentice Opticians where applicable.
• Adhere to HIPAA and privacy policies.
• Participate in training and education activities to meet departmental goals and maintain affiliations.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, workstations, and facility daily.
• Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
