Job summary

Howell Township is seeking a qualified Construction Official to oversee the administration and enforcement of the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code and related regulations. The role supervises the Construction Department, coordinates inspections across building, plumbing, electrical and fire codes, and ensures compliance with approved plans while serving as Flood Plain Administrator.

Qualified candidates must hold a valid New Jersey Construction Official License and at least one Sub-Code

Qualifications

Requires valid New Jersey Construction Official license.
Requires at least one Sub-Code Official license with the HHS license per NJAC 5:23-5.6.
Experience supervising a construction department and coordinating inspections is essential.
Familiarity with reviewing and issuing permits and enforcing codes is required.

Responsibilities

Oversee administration and enforcement of the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code and related laws.
Supervise the Construction Department, including subcode officials, inspectors, and staff.
Review and issue construction permits and coordinate building, plumbing, electrical, and fire inspections.
Ensure compliance with approved plans and applicable codes; perform Flood Plain Administrator duties.
