Job summary

North Caldwell Borough seeks a Construction Code Official, Building Subcode Official and Zoning Official to administer and enforce the NJ Uniform Construction Code and related zoning laws. The highly responsible role includes reviewing permit applications, conducting inspections, and providing guidance to property owners and contractors.

The candidate must have at least five years as a Construction Official and similar Zoning Official experience, with planning or zoning board exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years’ experience as a Construction Official and similar experience as a Zoning Official.
• Planning or Zoning Board experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain accurate records.
• Provide professional and courteous service to residents, contractors, architects, engineers, and members of the public.

Responsibilities

• Review zoning and construction permit applications and plans.
• Perform inspections and administer zoning requirements.
• Investigate complaints and violations.
• Communicate with property owners and contractors.
• Attend meetings as needed; supervise staff as applicable.
