Job summary

The Livingston Township Fire Department is seeking a Fire Inspector to enforce the Uniform Fire Safety Act Codes and township regulations. You will inspect commercial and private buildings for code conformance and educate the public as part of the Fire Prevention Bureau.

This full-time position requires a High School diploma, 2–5 years of fire code enforcement experience, and possession of NJ Fire Protection Sub-Code Official and Class I Fire Protection Inspector licenses, plus a NJ driver’s

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School and 2-5 years of fire code enforcement experience.
• Possession of valid Fire Protection Sub-Code Official license (State of NJ) and Class I Fire Protection Inspector license.
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Inspect commercial and private buildings for conformance to Township ordinances, board resolutions, and approved plans.
• Interact with the public providing education and inspection services as part of the Fire Prevention Bureau.
• Provide support to senior Fire Department staff and prepare inspection-related forms and reports.
• Work independently under general supervision, managing projects and responding to inquiries/complaints.
