Job summary

Glacier Fish Company seeks a Mate to oversee safe operation of a factory trawler and crew under the Master, with night-time fishing operations and logkeeping. Qualifications

• Coast Guard License required; 2+ years of experience fishing onboard H&G vessels in Alaskan waters.
• Must understand safety rules and shipboard procedures in English.
• Ability to operate vessel navigational equipment and follow COLREGS.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for safe operation of the factory trawler and crew under the master.
• Navigate using charts, radar, radios, depth finders and sonar; ensure COLREGS compliance.
• Direct fishing operations at night and maintain ship's log.
• Oversee safety policies and medical/safety activities onboard.
• Conduct safety drills, safety orientation and maintain records.
