Job summary

North Star Fishing Company seeks a skilled Mate to join its at-sea processing fleet. You will oversee the vessel’s safe operation and crew performance under the Master’s direction, coordinating navigation, safety and daily logs during live fishing trips.

The role requires a Coast Guard License for Uninspected Fishing Industry Vessel and at least 3 years of experience on H&G vessels in Alaskan waters, with ability to work extended trips and oversee safety protocols onboard.

Qualifications

• Coast Guard License for Uninspected Fishing Industry Vessel required; minimum 3 years fishing onboard H&G vessels in Alaskan waters.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operation of the factory trawler and crew under the master’s direction.
• Navigate and operate vessel with navigational aids and safety compliance.
• Direct fishing operations at night and log daily activities.
• Supervise safety, environmental policies, and medical activities onboard.
• Conduct safety drills and maintain station bill details.
• Complete safety/equipment checks and maintain navigational publications.
• Act as Fire Team Leader and coordinate drills.
