Job summary

Behavioral Health Group (BHG) is seeking a Counselor to guide patients toward social, educational, and occupational goals, helping them prepare for a drug‑free life. You will support clients emotionally and coordinate care with program staff to ensure adherence to schedules and policies.

Requires a Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field and licensure (ADDC, LPCC, MFTC, LSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPC).

Qualifications

• Masters or Bachelors in human services with current counseling credentials.
• Behavioral health experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to make decisions with confidential and sensitive issues.
• Ability to work with patients and team under pressure and seek guidance when needed.
• Knowledge of substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation principles.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular alcohol and drug abuse counseling sessions and group sessions.
• Orient patients to treatment program operations and procedures.
• Collect and assess social, educational, economic, and vocational information.
• Develop and revise patient treatment plans and maintain records.
• Coordinate care with community providers and perform follow-ups.
• Provide crisis intervention and inter-agency documentation.
