Job description

Summary:
Provide outpatient individual, family, and group therapy to adults with behavioral health disorders, adhering to best practice treatment strategies effective for their diagnostic needs. Treatment is provided in a clinic setting. In addition to mood and anxiety disorders, adults may have complex diagnostic profiles including trauma, eating disorders, medical conditions, cognitive disorders, substance use, and serious mental illness.

Responsibilities:

1. Establish positive, trusting rapport with clients.
2. Maintain current knowledge of diagnostic and treatment strategies for specialized populations; seek out clinical information to improve competency.
3. Conduct intake assessments and required screenings according to standards of practice for clients from hospital discharges, emergency services, or scheduled appointments.
4. Develop client and family-centered Treatment Plans addressing clinical needs based on best practices.
5. Provide outpatient services including individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based strategies, and respond to client issues and behaviors.
6. Conduct crisis assessments for clients at risk, recommend interventions, and complete safety plans involving families.
7. Assess the need for pharmacological treatment, refer to prescribers, and coordinate ongoing care.
8. Provide psycho-educational services as prescribed, including information on disorders, treatments, and resources.
9. Enhance knowledge of evidence-based treatment strategies for adults with serious mental illness.
10. Coordinate care with team members, primary care physicians, and other providers to promote recovery.
11. Document collaboratively with clients in notes and review documents.
12. Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries timely and according to standards.
13. Identify family needs and refer to community resources accordingly.
14. Recognize indicators of abuse and neglect, and respond appropriately.
15. Maintain knowledge of psychiatric medications, collaborate with prescribers, and support medication adherence.
16. Participate in clinical case presentations, meetings, trainings, and supervision; may supervise others.
17. Work cooperatively with team members, support each other, and maintain good work habits.
18. Meet clinical productivity requirements, including availability for late hours.
19. Mentor new clinicians, case managers, and interns.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, rehabilitation, or related field; licensed (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, PhD); experience with adults with behavioral health disorders, at least two years providing therapy, and knowledge of complex disorders.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Flexible schedule with evening hours; valid driver’s license, insured vehicle; knowledge of community resources; advocacy and teaching skills.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
