Job summary

The City of Holmes Beach is seeking a Building Inspector/Plans Examiner in the Building Department. This role reviews building plans, conducts inspections, and collaborates with contractors and property owners to ensure code compliance.

Two or more years as a licensed building inspector are required; multiple certifications are preferred with at least a Plan Review certification. Training to achieve Building Official certification may be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and required licensures as applicable by the State of Florida.
• Two or more years as a licensed building inspector are required.
• Multiple certifications are preferred with at least a Plan Review certification.
• Willing to train applicant to achieve Building Official certification.

Responsibilities

• Inspects new and existing construction projects for compliance with building, fire, plumbing, mechanical, floodplain, and energy codes.
• Reviews construction plans and calculations for structural, mechanical and architectural components to ensure code compliance.
• Communicates with homeowners, contractors and architects to obtain compliance.
• Maintains up-to-date education on trends and changes to construction methods and codes.
