Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Counselor Licensed. This Master’s prepared clinician will develop interdisciplinary crisis stabilization plans, conduct patient and family education, and participate in treatment planning and aftercare discharge planning.

The role also includes audits of medical records and quality initiatives within the department, and serving as a patient advocate on the Behavioral Health Leadership Team.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Family Therapy.
• Pursuing or supervised licensure (e.g., LMSW, PLPC).
• Crisis response training and emotional stability.
• Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
• Adaptable, decisive and able to demonstrate foresight.
• Exhibits organizational and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, families, and others to obtain social and developmental histories.
• Maintains regular contact with each patient to monitor responses to services.
• Liaises with local social service agencies to develop referrals after discharge.
• Provides group and individual services to develop skills for successful adjustment.
• Develops individual treatment plans and documents case records.
• Communicates emotional/cognitive variances to the treatment team.
