Job summary

Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI seeks a USER SERVICES SPECIALIST to oversee evening operations of the User Services unit, including collections, inventory, and staff supervision.

The role requires an associate degree and library experience; you will hire, train, supervise student employees, and ensure safety and policy compliance while delivering excellent customer service.

The position is full-time, 12-month, Sun-Thu evenings, with starting pay range $16.50–$17.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• An associate’s degree is required.
• One year of library work experience or equivalent.
• Ability to supervise and direct the work of others.
• Effective organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct user support to students, faculty, staff, and community users.
• Oversees library user safety and compliance with policies.
• Shares responsibility for building supervision, opening and closing.
• Troubleshoots print queue and public printers/copiers/scanners.
• Oversees student supervision including hiring, budgeting, scheduling, training, and evaluating.
• Oversees collection maintenance, space management, inventory, shelf-reading, and repairs.
• Assists with events and room setups.
• Participates with Access/User Services team on technology tools.
