The Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield’s Public Library, seeks a compassionate social worker to support patrons and collaborate with staff and community partners. This role focuses on behavioral health resources, crisis intervention, and advocacy within the library setting.

The Library Social Worker will lead programs, coordinate with healthcare professionals, and promote equity of access to vital services for vulnerable populations in Pittsfield. Starting salary varies with experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work (CSWE-accredited).
• Current Massachusetts social work licensure (LSW/LCSW/LICSW) required.
• 1–3 years in community health social work with trauma-informed care, crisis intervention and risk management.
• Knowledge of library mission and services; strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to build partnerships with diverse stakeholders; strong organizational skills.
• Proficient with MS Office and Google Workspace.

Responsabilités

• Staff assistance, consultations, and training sessions with compassionate policy enforcement.
• Direct patron work: plan for success, interim case management on shelter, food, employment, health services access.
• Build community partnerships with mental health providers and community organizations.
• Performs other duties as required.
