Job summary

CALCASIEU PARISH PUBLIC LIBRARY seeks a Library Assistant II to provide circulation and patron services at a branch level. You will handle checking out materials, registering patrons, renewing items, and assisting with information services.

You will support technology access, help patrons with online resources, and contribute to program development while upholding the library's core values of service, community, and integrity. A high school diploma and library knowledge are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of library principles, policies, and procedures.
• Experience in a library setting preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Strong computer skills and willingness to learn library technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide circulation and patron services at a branch level.
• Handle circulation transactions including checkouts, returns, renewals, and fines.
