Job summary

Fayetteville Public Library is seeking a Library Services Generalist for the Circulation Department. This hourly, part-time role pays $13.41–$16.77 and includes benefits such as Paid Time Off.

The position focuses on customer service, checking materials, shelving, and assisting with programs and events across locations. Ideal candidates will have strong communication, basic math and computer skills, and the ability to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; specialized schooling or on-the-job education in a specific skill area (e.g., customer service and clerical).
• Intermediate computer and software skills including the ability to learn the library's automation and inventory system.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic library skills including alphabetizing materials by title or author and organizing them in alphanumeric order.

Responsibilities

• Proactively greet and assist patrons with library materials and services at desks and across locations.
• Provide clear information on library products, policies, and conduct; de-escalate and resolve questions or concerns.
• Check out, check in and renew all materials using the library system, including electronics and tools.
• Maintain customer databases with attention to privacy per state statute.
• Shelve materials according to Dewey Decimal or alphabetic order; ensure browseability and proper shelf order.
