Job summary

Fort Bend County's library system seeks an motivated library clerk to assist patrons, manage materials, and support daily operations. You will handle circulation, RFID, holds, interlibrary loans, and data entry while delivering friendly service to a diverse public.

Role requires evening and weekend hours, basic computer skills, and a willingness to learn library software. Training and growth opportunities accompany a union-friendly environment with strong community impact.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• Two years of related experience is required.
• Strong computer skills with Internet, email, and Office products.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of service for patrons entering the building or calling the library for assistance.
• Assist with training and supervision of part-time library clerks and act as In-Charge in absence of Clerk III.
• Process circulation tasks including holds, interlibrary loans, and RFID-related duties.
• Use library software, internet, email, spreadsheets, and RFID in daily operations.
• Maintain patron data, issue library cards, and protect confidentiality.
• Handle payments, cash, and deposits; balance daily financials and prepare reports.
• Stack and shelve materials, load/unload items, and route to branches as needed.
• Receive and weed periodicals; manage new and donated materials.
• Attend staff meetings and training; participate in emergency management when needed.
• May perform purchasing, invoicing, repairs, and catalogue maintenance.
