Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a Library Clerk II – Circulation to provide frontline service, check materials in/out, and process holds and interlibrary loans. The role requires handling payments, deposits and maintaining patron records. Training and supervision of part-time clerks may be part of the duties.

Evening and weekend hours are required, and staff participate in staff meetings and ongoing training. The county emphasizes equal opportunity and professional development for its employees.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Two years of related work experience in a library or customer-service setting preferred.
• Strong computer skills; proficient with Internet, email and Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to communicate well with a diverse public and staff; capable of learning library software applications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of service for patrons entering the building or calling the library for assistance.
• Assist with training and supervision of part-time library clerks.
• Operate circulation systems, handle holds, interlibrary loans and reservations.
• Manage cash, process payments for fines and lost materials, and balance deposits.
