Job summary

Palmer College Foundation is seeking a Library Assistant at the Davenport campus to greet patrons and support multiple library departments, including Public Services and Special Collections.

The role requires assisting with circulation, reference referrals, and basic tech support, while supervising work-study students and performing routine clerical tasks. The schedule may include varied hours Tuesday through Saturday.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent; one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Open and/or close the library.
• Provide excellent customer service to library patrons.
• Perform Circulation Desk procedures, such as checking books in/out and finding books for patrons.
• Answer directional questions and refer patrons to appropriate personnel.
• Refer reference questions and literature searches to librarians.
• Answer the phones, route calls, check voicemails.
• Troubleshoot student printing/computer problems.
• Perform various straightening, facing, shifting, and shelving of library materials.
• Search shelves for missing/overdue items.
• Check and fill printers, staplers, etc.
• Supervise Student Assistants.
• Perform various clerical and data entry tasks as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
