Job summary

Colby College Library is seeking a Library Assistant, Evening and Weekend to coordinate public services at Miller Library and Bixler Art and Music Library, delivering friendly reference help and basic circulation support.

The role supports student assistants, schedules staffing, processes materials for courses, and maintains library operations during evenings and weekends (Sept–May) with special schedules during breaks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent customer service and ability to provide helpful information.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Google Apps and Microsoft Office; experience with library systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate evening and weekend operations for two library service points.
• Oversee Bixler stacks maintenance and supervise student assistants.
• Assist patrons with basic reference questions and course reserves processing.
• Maintain inventory and office supplies; compile annual statistics.
• Hire and train student staff and manage schedules.
• Collaborate with Public Services team and college committees.
