The New York Public Library is seeking a Library Attendant Guard at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building in New York, NY. This role requires ensuring safety and order across the building and surroundings, with a focus on responding to emergencies and maintaining a secure environment for patrons and staff.

Work is 40 hours per week with the possibility of evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. A High School Diploma or GED and NYS Security Guard Registration are required, along with prior security

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must have a valid New York State Security Guard Registration.
• Prior security experience is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Responsabilités

• Enforces the Library’s rules of conduct for all patrons and visitors.
• Conducts building and grounds tours to ensure security.
• Intervenes with unauthorized persons and coordinates with security or police as needed.
• Maintains safety by ensuring adherence to security rules by staff and contractors.
• Provides security presence at special events and private screenings.
• Writes comprehensive incident reports for investigations.
• Notifies facilities services of malfunctions in building systems.
• Operates security technology as part of the security strategy.
• May be assigned to other NYPL facilities as needed.
• Performs related duties as required.
