Job summary

The City of Rochester Central Library seeks a vigilant security professional to patrol facilities, respond to incidents, and enforce safety rules. You will monitor for disturbances, prepare incident reports, and assist with crowd control during events.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, and active NYS Security Guard Certification. A valid NYS Class D driver license must be maintained throughout employment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED.
• Possession of NYS Security Guard Certification at the time of application.
• Possession of a valid New York State Class D driver license to be maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Patrols an assigned area to insure safety of persons and property.
• Investigates complaints and disturbances.
• Keeps patrol area orderly and notes any problems needing the attention of superiors.
• Apprehends lawbreakers and disorderly persons in keeping with the jurisdiction of the job.
• Inspects buildings and property for safety, health or fire hazards and brings details to the attention of a supervisor.
• Enforces vehicles and safety regulations as required by specific assignment.
• Keeps order at public gatherings and at special events.
• Makes regular reports of events occurring during the shift or detail.
• Assumes desk duty at an assigned post at the request of supervisory personnel.
• Performs special assignments at the request of supervisory personnel.
